Buccaneers continue to push Saints’ buttons, even after the game

Though Sunday’s matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn’t end in the best version of football, there was still much to be learned for New Orleans.

But after the game, despite it not being both teams’ best showing, Tampa Bay’s Devin White fired off an interesting take regarding Saints’ quarterback Jameis Winston.

“When Jameis left our team, everybody knows what he did that last year. And we felt like we had a great defense then, and he threw 30 picks,” White said.

“We just knew he’d give us the ball, we knew the running backs cough it up. That’s something we came in talking about. We want 30 turnovers as a ball club ourselves, so this was just another game to go attack the ball.”

It wasn’t Winston’s best day at the office. He threw three interceptions en route to New Orleans’ 20-10 defeat.

However, White shouldn’t get too far ahead of himself. It took everything Tampa Bay had to beat a banged-up Winston-led offense.

One can’t help but think that if Winston is fully healthy on Sunday maybe things go a little differently.

“Today I didn’t execute,” Winston Said after the game on Sunday. “This time, I turned the football over, and that’s on me. I need to get back to the drawing board. And I’m going to protect the football. It’s early in the season. We just got to bounce back.”

Except for Winston to have a bounce-back game next time out for New Orleans.
