Chiefs are one step closer to grabbing elite receiver

During free agency, all eyes have been on Odell Beckham Jr., and what exactly he will be doing for the 2023 season. The Chiefs, as usual with any big named free agent, are involved and interested in the former All-Pro receiver.

The Chiefs are looking for a new wide receiver one, and Beckham Jr. could be the perfect fit for the team. With the recent news of the Cowboys trading for former Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks, that leaves a larger pathway for the Chiefs to swoop in on Beckham Jr.

Earlier this offseason, Beckham Jr. hosted a workout with him doing some drills and catching the football. Several teams were there, including the Chiefs and the Cowboys.

Now that the Cowboys, a team that has also been in the rumor mill with Beckham Jr., have another big-name receiver on their team, the lessens the chance of them landing the guy everyone wants.

In other words, the trade they made opens up a bigger possibility of the Chiefs grabbing one of the most highly coveted guys in free agency. Now, does this mean the Cowboys won’t get him for sure? No. Does this mean the Chiefs are now definitely getting Beckham Jr.? No.

But, I will throw in this wrinkle, just to give fans something else to think about while we patiently wait on the news to drop about his next destination.

There is a reason the Chiefs haven’t signed another receiver yet, even after JuJu Smith-Schuster left for the New England Patriots.

Shoot, they could have even re-signed Mecole Hardman, but they still haven’t even done that. Why haven’t they made a move yet? I think it’s because they are patiently waiting for Beckham Jr., but, I’ll let you guys be the judge of all of that.
