The Kansas City Chiefs will have their hands full this weekend with the Seattle Seahawks. If they struggled with the Houston Texans, and the Denver Broncos, they will surely have some problems with the Seahawks.
I mean, this team they will be playing on Saturday is much better than people think. Of course, we all know about head coach Pete Carrol, who is a mastermind in his own right.
He has put together some pretty good offenses and some even better defenses. This team is pretty good on both sides.
The offense is led by Geno Smith, who has resurrected his career by sitting near the top of every statistical category. He has weapons on the outside in Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf, and a running back in Kenneth Walker who may be the best rookie at his position.
The defense, well, I’ll let Mahomes tell you who they have.
“I think the biggest thing is they have a lot of talented, young players,” Mahomes said. “First of all, they have the linebacker, 56, from Texas Tech (Seahawks LB Jordyn Brooks) – I’m just saying (laughter). He’s like leading the league in tackles, so he’s a great player to have in the middle there. And then they have the young corner – also from Texas – that is leading the league in interceptions (Seahawks S Quandre Diggs).
“So, they got a lot of young, talented players that play very hard. Coach Carroll, every one of his teams is going to play extremely hard. And they’re fighting for a playoff spot, so they’re going to be a great challenge for us to go out there and try to find a way to get a win.”
This defense may not be at the top in any statistical category, but they have some big names that make big plays.
The Seahawks do have the sixth-most turnovers created in the league with 21, and a huge reason why is because of Diggs and others that have created them so well.
The Chiefs’ offense has played some pretty good defenses this year, so I have confidence that they will get the job done regardless, but because of how they have been playing, I know it won’t be as easy as what most people think.
Mahomes knows what he is in for, and I’m sure he is as excited as ever for the challenge.
If he can show out like he did last week, this will only help him with his MVP case even more. That’s just another wrinkle to throw out there.
