Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs is going to need to take some of his $450 million deal and build another house soon for all of his trophies.
At the NFL Honors ceremony on Thursday, Mahomes was named the league’s MVP for the 2022 season, his second time winning the award.

Mahomes didn’t just win the MVP, he took it home by a mile. He received 48 of the 50 first-place votes as the other two were spilt between Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and Bills signal-caller Josh Allen.
Mahomes also became just the ninth quarterback in NFL history to win multiple MVP awards.
The former first-round pick led the league in passing yards (5,250), passing touchdowns (41), and total QBR this season (77.5). Also, Mahomes completed 67.1 percent of his passes, a new career high.
Mahomes was named to the Pro Bowl for the fifth consecutive year and garnered his third All-Pro honor, his second one of the first-team variety.
Despite not having dynamic wide receiver Tyreek Hill for the first time in his career, Mahomes had the Chiefs’ offense cooking like always this season.
They led the NFL in passing yards per game, total yards, and points per game (29.2).
That’s not all that Mahomes did in 2022. He rewrote the history books with 5,614 total yards, breaking the old mark set by former Saints quarterback Drew Brees in 2011.
After thanking the man upstairs and his family, Mahomes made sure he mentioned his team from top to bottom.
“To the Chiefs organization, Clark Hunt, Brett Veach, Andy Reid, the staff, and most of all, my teammates, I would never be standing here today without y’all,” Mahomes said in his acceptance speech. “Every day giving everything that we have together to go for the ultimate goal, the Super Bowl. Let’s continue to go for that dream this weekend.”
Nobody could have predicted Mahomes was going to be this good on the professional level. However, with the groundwork he’s laid over the last five years, his greatness is expected, but shouldn’t be taken for granted.
