There’s no shortage of Josh Allen love in NFL circles as of late, and for good reason.
In the 2021 postseason, Allen was as perfect as one could get.
In the Wild Card Round he led the first perfect game from an offense in league history, and in the Divisional he was toe for toe with Patrick Mahomes in one of the best playoff games ever.
With 637 yards, 9 touchdowns, and no interceptions, this was something special.
Coming off the postseason performance of a lifetime against the Patriots and Chiefs, anticipation is high.
As a matter of fact, one ESPN insider is taking said anticipation a step further. NFL Live’s Field Yates claimed Josh Allen could be the scariest player to defend going into the 2022. Responding to an ESPN survey of coaches, executives, and players ranking Allen third among quarterbacks, even that was too low for him.
“At his apex, I believe Josh Allen could be as dominant a player in the NFL as any other in the NFL this year,” Yates said, also picking him as his MVP favorite.
In whole, it goes without saying that Allen is Yates’ No. 1 overall quarterback.
Yates went on to say that his ranking of Allen is not based on longetivity. Add this all up, and it comes to no surprise that one ESPN insider is fully on board the Allen hype train.
Of course, this is not a statement without merit, as sites such as Oddschecker and Vegasinsider currently have Allen as the MVP favorite as well.
That’s astounding considering the only MVP winner this decade has been Aaron Rodgers.
No Bills player has won MVP since Thurman Thomas back in 1991. No Bills quarterback has won a First Team All-Pro selection since Jim Kelly from that same year. Thus, a lot is at stake. When it comes to Josh Allen, the MVP hype is for real. And in a loaded AFC, the praise directed this way is all the more impressive.
