A former NFL Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion made quite the statement about the Cincinnati Bengals during an appearance on ESPN on Friday.
Damien Woody, a former offensive lineman who played 12 seasons in the NFL and won two Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, said on Friday that he thinks the Bengals are the best team in the NFL right now.
Woody made the comment while suggesting that Joe Burrow is “coming” for the NFL MVP award.
“I said Joe Burrow’s coming,” said Woody. “Joe Burrow is coming. Because I think right now, the Bengals might be the best team in the league.”
Woody added that he doesn’t think saying that the Bengals are the best team in the NFL is a bold statement.
“Joe Burrow’s coming. … I think right now, the Bengals might be the best team in the league.”

Cincinnati struggled a bit at the start of the season — that season-opening loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers wasn’t Burrow’s best day — but they’re certainly on a roll as of late.
The Bengals have won six of their last seven games. They’re currently riding a four-game winning streak which includes wins against the Tennessee Titans and the Kansas City Chiefs — two of the perceived best teams in the AFC.
Winning a championship in the NFL is often about getting hot at the right time. And there’s no doubt that Cincinnati is one of the hottest teams in the NFL right now.
