Green Bay Packers veteran is called out after big mistake

Man, you’d think that more NFL players would be a lot more careful with late-game laterals after what happened to Jakobi Meyers and the New England Patriots in Week 15.

But, here we were, not even twenty four hours after the infamous incident, when Green Bay Packers cornerback Rasul Douglas said, “Hold my beer.”

As you can see below, Douglas snagged a fourth quarter interception on Sunday night against the Los Angeles Rams and despite the bevy of criticism and humiliation surrounding Meyers and the Patriots, pretty much decided to do the same thing they did.

And it almost cost his team the turnover. A Rams recovery would’ve been tragic in this situation. Not only would it have taken the ball away from the Packers, but the Rams would’ve been right back in position to make it a one-score game.

And based off how the Packers have closed out games in 2022 -or failed to close them out, rather- that’s not a situation anyone associated with the green and gold wanted to be in.

And head coach Matt LaFleur made that very, very clear after the game.

“That’s definitely not something that we want to have happen,” LaFleur told reporters. “[It was] definitely a careless pitch-back, if you will. Rasul is too smart. He knows better, and that’s something that we definitely will address.”

“He made a great play on the interception. Kenny Clark obviously forced the pressure there. But, yeah, we need to do a better job taking care of the football in that situation.”

LaFleur is right in calling out Douglas. What he did is simply inexcusable, especially during a game in which his team is fighting for its playoff life.

Hopefully Douglas gets the message, as well. Because who knows what will happen if he attempts something like this, again.
