The Kansas City Chiefs won a big game last night just purely based on the fact that they outplayed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in every area of the game. This one is different though.
It feels better than the other two wins the Chiefs have this year. I think you all know why, too. This Buccaneers team and they are pretty close to the same team, demolished the Chiefs in Super Bowl LV.
There is no other way to put it. While it may not be the perfect game for revenge because it’s not in the playoffs, I’m sure it still felt good.
Just ask Patrick Mahomes. “Yeah we wanted to win for sure,” Mahomes told the NBC reporter after the game. “Not only for that [losing SB LV] but also to get our season back on track.
Obviously, it’s not a playoff win, so it doesn’t mean that, but to come down here in this stadium and win a game, it was special.”
The game meant so much to this team, and I think we could all feel that. But there was also another reason this game was so big.
Players stepped up when they were called out. That’s important.
The fact that the Buccaneers’ defense called out the Chiefs’ offensive line calling them the same one from SB LV is embarrassing for Tampa Bay.
Mahomes and co. heard what the Buccaneers said and he let them know Sunday night after the big win.
“We had a great game plan,” Mahomes said when asked about the Buccaneers’ defense. “We got the ball out of my hands fast, the O-line played their tail off, I want to say something else, but they played their tail off. Run game, pass game. There was some chatter about how they weren’t going to be up for the challenge and they were ready for it. When you can run the ball like that and they can protect like that, we will be a hard team to beat.”
The Buccaneers embarrassed themselves, for a few reasons. First, there is almost no one on this offensive line that played in that Super Bowl, so for Shaq Barrett to say that is kind of funny.
It also makes it look like he hasn’t studied any film on the Chiefs since Super Bowl LV.
Then, they embarrassed themselves again by going out there and laying an egg.
Not only did they trash talk and say all the wrong things, but they also couldn’t back it up.
The offensive line was throwing the Buccaneers’ defensive line around all night. It was fun to watch.

Mahomes taking that shot at the Buccaneers is the petty Mahomes we love to see.
When he is bringing up stuff like this, you know that means he hears the chatter. And when he hears the chatter, no one is safe because he plays with fire.
