The Cincinnati Bengals are reportedly one of the teams interested in free agent running Jamaal Williams.
So, this means that the future of Joe Mixon with the Bengals is in serious jeopardy.
The last few months haven’t been the smoothest for Mixon.
In February, it was reported that Mixon pointed a gun at a woman and threatened to shoot her in what was called a road rage incident which took place in Cincinnati the day before the Bengals played the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round in late January.
A warrant for misdemeanor aggravated menacing was filed but the case was dismissed.
Late week, more disturbing news surrounding Mixon came out.
His home was under investigation for a shooting that caused a juvenile to suffer minor injuries. Police put up crime scene tape and entered Mixon’s home around 1:30 am EST.
After searching Mixon’s home, police removed the tape and no arrests were made.
The Bengals can save $7.2 million against the salary cap if they part ways with Mixon.
He is a productive player and a valuable part of the Bengals’ offense. However, the circus surrounding him may be too much for the Bengals at this point, and with Williams as an option plus the NFL draft coming up, it could lead to the end of this marriage.
