Kansas City Chiefs fans have a great reason to dislike Cincinnati Bengals star defensive back Jessie Bates.
During the Chiefs’ loss to the Bengals on Sunday, Bates pulled off a shady maneuver that is maddening for opponents.
The former Wake Forest standout saw that Cincinnati was late getting subs onto the field, which would’ve resulted in a too-many-men-on-the-field penalty, so he immediately dropped to the ground with an “injury”.
That injury allowed the Bengals to avoid the penalty.
Incredibly timed injury here by Jessie Bates 😂pic.twitter.com/HFr987Axzq

There’s obviously no way to prove if an injury is legitimate or not, but the timing of this injury was quite convenient.
Fortunately for the Chiefs, it was inconsequential as Kansas City scored a couple of players later. Touchdowns, however, aren’t automatic. And if these two teams meet again in the playoffs, fans will have an eye on Bates and his shenanigans.
Some might view it as a savvy move by the veteran, but ultimately it’s a shady move if the injury isn’t legitimate.
